Come Meet Your New Best Friend at Sonder Ranch! Visitors of all ages learn about horses, the care they require, and what they have to offer as companions.
Visitors can attend farrier and veterinary sessions, assist with grooming and feeding tasks, and participate in groundwork and exercise routines in a friendly and safe atmosphere.
On March 30, 2009, Sonder Ranch welcomes the students of New Horizon School & Learning Center for an educational visit. There will be a meet and greet for the horses and kids, then a brief horsemanship lesson followed by a question and answer session. The responsibilities and costs of horse ownership will be included in the discussion.
Sonder Ranch offers our services free of charge. We receive weekly requests to assist or retrieve forgotten or mistreated horses. We help other horse owners and organizations (such as our local Animal Control division) by assisting with rescue and relocation efforts, feed, transportation, maintenance and medical supplies.
Go Ahead, Make Their Day - Sponsor a Horse! Sponsorship provides supplements, farrier and veterinary care and bodywork for a recovering horse.
Sponsoring a horse can be very rewarding. Sponsorship amounts are up to the donor, and can be given on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis. In return, each sponsor receives a picture and biography of "their" horse(s), and regular updates.
If you're interested in sponsoring a horse, please contact Henry at SonderEquines@yahoo.com

Sonder Ranch will soon be hosting public Equitation and Equine Care clinics presented by professionals from the equine community. We will also provide field trip opportunities for school-age children. Check out our Events page in the Summer for more details.
Big Sky Camp allows students to volunteer as ranch hands and docents during summer day camp activities for people living with physical challenges. Many students can utilize this experience for required community service projects required by their schools.
Shine is a program that provides a safe haven for at risk or traumatized youth in our community. Children learn to care for a needy horse in a calm and structured setting. It is our hope that each horse’s improvement will mirror the growth of each child.

RECOVERY
Fresh Start Each recovered horse is evaluated by a veterinarian, a farrier and a body work specialist.
Since each situation is different, together we design a care routine to fit the horse’s individual needs.
The horse’s history and behavior is recorded, and their physical condition is photographed and monitored.
All necessary medical and hoof treatment is promptly provided.
Jaynellen & Kazmar
Care Natural supplements, quality feed, bodywork, regular health care and hoof maintenance are the standard for Sonder Ranch horses.
Most horses will simply be retired with the shelter, medical attention and proper nutrition they deserve. Some are adopted by suitable candidates. Many of our horses provide companionship and educational services to our visitors.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Recently In 2007 we were able to recover four horses. Without assistance, these horses would have surely continued to suffer in their environments. We also placed a horse with an adoptive owner. In the past five years we have built a strong network of talented and caring professionals and volunteers who have assisted us in providing the best care possible for our horses.
EQUINE COMPANIONS
What It’s All About Last year our youngest mare, Rubie, paired up with a local high school student.
Our teenage visitor has Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. He has difficulty keeping still, concentrating and studying. Social situations are often frustrating.
During his visits with Rubie, our friend is relaxed and focused. His teachers tell us his grades, social skills and self esteem have greatly improved since his first contact with horses.
